The Mindset Shifts That Helped Me Start My Own Business

The Mindset Shifts That Helped Me Start My Own Business

Do you dream of working from home and being your own boss? What about starting your own business and finally having financial independence? Becoming a successful entrepreneur, especially in the last two years, has been the dream for so many people. Starting a business and becoming your own boss is more than just following a formula for success. Besides hustling and putting in countless hours of hard work, learning to shift your mindset into one that will promote confidence is the key to running a successful business.

Keep reading to learn more about the mindset shifts that help me start my own business.

An Open Mindset

This one might seem kind of obvious, but it’s too important to overlook. Having an open mind can take you and your business to new levels. If you think you already know something, think again! You may be closing yourself off to anything new about that topic and missing opportunities for growth and learning.

For example, you may think that you can never make enough money with your blog to quit your full-time job. However, if you are open-minded and decide to sign up for a blogging course or try a new marketing strategy you might be surprised at what you can do!

There are also so many opportunities for improvement, so if you think you’re executing a plan the best way you can, set goals to reassess every so often so that you can implement new strategies as you go. The world of business and entrepreneurship is ever-changing, so allow yourself the freedom to see things from different perspectives.

Life is an Experiment

Let’s face it, none of us know what the heck we are doing- we’re all just figuring it out as we go along. By treating your life like one big science experiment, you take the pressure off of yourself to know everything and do everything perfectly.

Adopting this mentality will help you feel capable of doing things that you would be too scared to try otherwise (like starting your own business). It’s definitely intimidating at first to take that spark and carry it through an entire business plan to reach your end goal, but you CAN do it!

Focus on Essentials and Ignore the Rest

When you’re running your own business, there are thousands of things you could be doing at any given time (and the internet will remind you of all of them).

It is so easy to get bogged down and overwhelmed with all of the information out there about what you “should” be doing to be successful.

Learning to shift your focus from trying to do everything to focus on only a few essential tasks at a time. What is the most important thing you can do at this moment? Identify it, tackle it, then move on to the next task. Changing your mindset to focus on what you’re actually working towards is so much more beneficial than getting caught up in what other people in your market are doing.

Self-Discipline Is a Must Have

When you work in a traditional job setting, it’s much easier to stay on task and be productive. You have colleagues and supervisors keeping you accountable and on track. That is not the case when you start your own business.

When you’re self-employed you have to be self-disciplined or your business will not succeed. You are your supervisor – it’s up to you to make sure things get done. Everything in your business is riding on your shoulders. Do whatever it takes to become self-disciplined and you will see your business flourish. Set yourself up each day with a mantra or affirmations to put your best foot forward!
