Social media marketing for fitness instructors…are there too many of us?

As the online fitness instructor/influencer community begins to broaden, we can’t help but wonder:

Are there too many of us?

In today’s day and age, social media is more prevalent in our lives than ever before. With our phones consistently by our sides, any and all information is accessible with a few quick taps of our fingers. It’s no wonder why there are so many fitness instructors taking their platform online. It’s a great way to spread information easily to the masses.

One share to a friend could be the catalyst for a viral video. One could wake up the next morning with thousands, even millions, of followers — just because a few people clicked “share”.

And that’s crazy. But in the best way! How cool? We can easily share whatever we want with our friends and family instantaneously. We can learn as much as we want, take up new hobbies, and teach ourselves things we’d never even dream of. While there can be many downfalls to social media, there are many positives, too.

But, when it comes to social media for fitness — are there too many of us?

While the community is growing, it’s important to remember one thing: we are all unique individuals.

No matter what area of life we’re talking about, this sentiment still rings true. Each of us brings something new to the table every day.

We each have different experiences that shape us into the people we are. We all see things differently and from a unique perspective. We can change someone else’s lives how someone else’s words have changed ours.

This still rings true when it comes to social media fitness instructors. No matter what niche of fitness you specialize in, there is someone out there who is going to relate to you and the way you do things.

Whether it be the specific niche, the techniques, or your personality — someone out there will find you and relate with you.

What if you never tried? Never posted and took that chance — you’d never know what lives you could’ve touched. What new information you would have taught somebody. That’s why there can never be too many of us.

That’s the beauty of the online world.

If something doesn’t work for one person, it will work for somebody else.

If one person out of a thousand doesn’t like the way you do something — it’s okay. Someone else will. In fact, a LOT of other people could. You’ll never know until you give it your best effort.

If you’re passionate about fitness and you want to put in the social media marketing work to become an instructor/influencer— do it. You can do anything you put your mind to if you put in the necessary work.

Ultimately, if you want something bad enough, you won’t stop until you’ve made it happen. That’s how you know where your passion lies.

So, if you’re debating on starting a fitness instructor journey through social media — do it. If it’s your passion and it’s something you love so much, why wouldn’t you at least try? There’s no harm in trying. Wouldn’t you rather give it a shot instead of wondering “what if”?

Don’t let the populated online fitness community scare you away. Remember that you are a unique individual and you bring something new to the table, whether you realize it or not. Sometimes I sit back and think, what if I hadn't taken that jump? What if I didn’t try because there was already someone else similar to me online? I wouldn’t be where I am today — in the fortunate position to be writing this advice to you.

Take my advice: if you love it, do it. Put in the work. Make it happen. If it’s a passion, you never will know the great that can come out of it if you don’t try — and this goes for any area of life.

If it’s important enough to you, trust that you’ll make it work. Believe in yourself, your passion, and your unique abilities to change your life and others.
