Who doesn't love a good Classic Chicken Pot Pie Recipe? That buttery pie crust filled with tender chicken morsels, peas, carrots, onions, and gravy. The smell of it baking use to send me into my happy place, knowing that my dinner was going to be consumed with lust.
I am already smiling as I tap into my chicken pot pie memory.
I am aware that many of us, including myself, believe must QUIT this classic comfort food. We have bought into the lie that if we eat this there will be significant side effects both physically, mentally, and emotionally. Words and phrases like, it's not healthy, you'll gain weight, too many carbs, I don't eat meat. All untrue
What if I were to offer you a few alternative twists on the classic chicken pot pie recipe. That you could enjoy eating Chicken Pot Pies again, but with a few alternatives.
Today there are all-new twists on this famous classic. What once was a classic staple has now been modified for various reasons including the ones I mentioned above.
The most obvious is the pie crust. The pie crust doesn't fit for someone that has allergies to wheat and gluten. It also is not permitted for those living a keto-friendly lifestyle.
This chicken pot pie classic doesn't have to be off-limits for people with dietary restrictions or needs. If you find a recipe you like, look at the ingredients you don't eat and think about what you can substitute for.
Diary sensitive: Use Almond Milk, coconut butter
Gluten Wheat: Almond Flour, Pork Rinds, Coconut Flour, Chia Seeds
Vegetables: Peas and Carrots, not your thing… Sub any veggies in place of them.
Noodles: Spaghetti Squash or Zoodles
Meat: More vegetables, mushrooms, tofu, you choose.
I am posting a few other recipes here that take a twist on this classic comfort food.
Nothing goes together better than tater tots and chicken pot pie filling. If potatoes are not on your diet, try using cauliflower tater tots instead of using potatoes.
